His Biography

Mead founded and manages Octagon Asset Management, LLC, Octagon Financial Services International, LLC and CommodityFinance.com, LLC (a joint venture with Rabobank International), all of which are financial services companies that specialize in global emerging markets. In this capacity, Mead travels extensively to developing countries to work with local partners in providing financial services. Mead brings to Octagon unique experience in trade and structured finance from his prior work experience at Cargill Financial Services International, Inc., the internal emerging market investment arm/investment bank of Cargill Inc. Mead received his B.A. in Economics from Bates College in Lewiston, ME and studied international business in Lugano, Switzerland.

Mead is also the co-founder of A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO's).  ALTSO is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help transform the lives of children with limb disabilities in developing countries by offering them physical capabilities and self-esteem. A Leg To Stand On transforms the lives of disabled children through the use of corrective surgery and the provision of prosthetic limbs. By leveling the playing field for these children, the Foundation gives them access to education, work and community opportunities - the tools they need to make a better future for themselves.

Mead is an avid marathoner and musician.  He and a group of Wall Street friends have created a rock band called The Subscribers. All of the proceeds from their music go to A Leg to Stand On.
